Mashed Potatoes

Mashed potato is a dish prepared by mashing boiled potatoes. Recipes started appearing in 1747 with an entry in The Art of Cookery by Hannah Glasse.


Portion Size 4-6


1 kg Potatoes (prepared – peeled and cut)
50 gm Margarine
100 ml Milk


1. Peel and cut your potatoes cut to the same size.
2.Wash the potatoes, put them in a saucepan with salt, cover with cold water and a lid. Bring to the boil and simmer for 30 minutes until cooked.
2. Drain the potatoes, pass them through a sieve (or use a potato masher ) then mix in the margarine, nutmeg and seasoning.
3. Bring the milk to the boil, mix thoroughly into the potatoes and serve.


Always Taste then adjust seasoning.
